CRUMB PLANTS

Brooklyn-via-Boston psychedelic-leaning outfit Crumb have shared 'Plants', the wonderfully breezy, 90s-inspired first taste from their new EP Locket. Starting off slowly, the gently descending discordant guitar beckons you closer, making sure you're paying attention before sending you down the rabbit hole entirely. Lead singer Lila Ramani’s beautifully tender yet deadpan vocals sit somewhere between The Cardigan's Nina Persson and Speedy Ortiz's Sadie Dupuis, guiding the way through a whimsical world of watery synthesizers, funk-inspired bass lines and tripped-out guitar parts. The culinary inspired lyrics "Bake me up a treat/and I can't stay away" conjure images of Alice's gastronomical temptations in her adventures in Wonderland. All Crumb need now is a giant hooka-smoking caterpillar.  - HLMX
